My Tech Haul for Video Content

My Tech Haul for Video Content

Gearing up to “Go Live” on social media and not sure what tech tools you need. Here are some of our favorite tech accessories.

It’s already a little overwhelming when you finally make a decision to create video content or to live stream. But then, the reality sets in. You look at everyone else’s videos and you panic that you may not look “polished”. Our goal is to reduce your stress with this list of tech accessories.

“I’m a techno moron. I need help just plugging in my video camera.” –Libba Bray

Camera Angles

You know that it’s all about the angles. You are trying to lean your phone against a can of baked beans as a makeshift stand. Nah! That’s not working. Now what? Try a pop-socket. It’s like a kickstand for your phone. You can also use it to steady your hand when taking #selfies.

Maybe you need a little bit more. Enter the Arkon iPhone Flexible Tripod. This tripod is heavy duty and offers uncountable options for angles. I have seen people wrap it around a porch rail and capture amazing video. It’s great for the #workfromanywhere lifestyle.

Finally, this the tripod I gave my daughter and she loves it! The Foant Lightweight Tripod is easy to carry and works with your phone, camera, and some other recording devices. Best of all, it has a Bluetooth remote to pair with your recording device.

Mic Check

“Be original, show off your style, and tell your story.”

Until you’ve recorded with a great mic, you never knew that you were missing a quality sound. I love that Pat Flynn from Side Hustle talks about his evolution of microphones over the years. As he evolved with his podcast so did his microphones. Rest assured yours will evolve too. That’s why the ZenSound Mic was my first microphone purchase. What I appreciate most is that it comes with adapters to use with phones, tablets, PCs, and more.

If you tune into my Facebook Group LIVE chats you may notice me wearing a headset and mic combo by Logitech. The sound quality is crystal clear for both the headset and mic.

Lights, Please

As much as possible you need to either stand in great natural lighting but it’s not always possible. My house had lots of shadows and it never failed that I needed to be on camera after sundown. In a rush and on a tight budget I created my own DIY ring light by watching YouTube. But if you want to up your lighting game try the Fovitech softbox lighting kit for under $200. It’s all of your studio lightings in a box.

Get Inspired

Now, you don’t need a lot and you don’t need to spend a ton of money. You can get started pretty easily. You may even find yourself inspired to start crafting your own blog, adding unique content, and stunning images and videos. Start creating your own videos now. Good luck!
